Search Callaway County Criminal Court Dockets

Callaway County criminal court dockets live in two places: the local circuit clerk and Missouri's statewide public index. Start with the clerk of the Callaway County Circuit Court if you need the full case file. The state index works well for a quick docket search by name or case number. Either way, a Callaway County criminal docket shows the entries that track a charge, from filing to plea, motion, judgment, or appeal. Keep in mind that some records stay closed. Confidential, sealed, and juvenile matters are not open to the public.

Callaway County Criminal Docket Searches

Missouri runs one public portal rather than a county-by-county database, so the main route into a Callaway County criminal docket is Missouri Case.net. If a ticket, notice, or court paper gives you a case number, start there. No number? A litigant-name search works when the defendant is displayed, though protected people can be left out. Try Filing Date Search to narrow a known stretch of time. Or use Scheduled Hearings & Trials Search when you are chasing a listed setting. Before trusting the Docket Entries tab, check the result. It should show Callaway County, plus the right division, case type, filing date, and case style.

The court docket lives with the Callaway County Circuit Clerk. That office sits inside the Missouri Circuit Court, 13th Judicial Circuit. Remember that results are only an index into the case. Not every document opens from home. The public Case.net guide also lets eligible readers use Track This Case on their own matter. They can also track a public case they follow.

  1. Open Case.net and choose Case Number Search when a complete court number is known.
  2. Otherwise choose Litigant Name Search, add the public party name, and limit the court to Callaway or the 13th Judicial Circuit when the interface offers that choice.
  3. Compare the result’s case number, case type, filing date, and court before opening the case-number link.
  4. Read the Case Header, Parties, and Docket Entries tabs in date order, paying close attention to the newest setting or disposition.
  5. Use the Circuit Clerk or a courthouse terminal when the needed public document is not linked for remote viewing.

Callaway County CR Case Searches

Missouri case numbers follow a pattern: two-digit year, then a location identifier, a two-letter category, a five-digit sequence, and a subcase code. For a Callaway County search, trust the number printed on your court notice. Guessed patterns lead nowhere. Criminal cases carry the CR category. An X later in the number can point to bind-over, a transfer, trial de novo, or full-circuit procedure. And TC marks a treatment-court referral.

You can read docket text at home even when an attachment stays out of reach. On Case.net, an ECASE label has a clear meaning. The case lives only in electronic form. There is no paper court file behind it. A Docket Entry link means that one viewer's role permits the attachment. It does not mean every member of the public can open the same document.

The Western District U.S. Attorney contact page belongs to a federal office. That office keeps no Callaway County criminal docket.

That split in jurisdiction saves you time: a federal office is the wrong place to hunt for a Missouri Circuit Court case.

Criminal Dockets: What They Show

A Callaway criminal docket opens with a case header. It then logs the court's dated activity. The header names the county, case number, division, filing date, case style, judge, and status. Party and attorney blocks set out the State and defendant roles. After that come the entries the public cares about. These cover charge, bond, setting, plea, disposition, sentence, and appeal. One caution. An entry can say a motion was filed. That is a request, not a ruling. The signed order controls, if it is public and available.

Case numberThe court-assigned identifier, commonly carrying the CR criminal category.
Charge blockThe offense as filed and, where entered, the disposition charge or classification.
Docket EntriesChronological filings, notices, judicial actions, and document links available to the viewer.
SettingA scheduled case event, not proof that the event occurred or ended the case.
Disposition and sentenceThe recorded outcome, judgment, supervision, or sentence entries when entered.

Traffic tickets, municipal matters, conservation cases, and watercraft citations often work differently. Instead of a full docket entry, the clerk may keep a backer sheet. Its fields cover the charge, bond, court date, any warrant notice, the judge, the disposition, and the date of the conviction abstract. What you see depends on the case type. The security level applied to it matters too.

Juvenile and family records are another matter. The restrictions come from Missouri Rule 122. Those limits hold even when a related criminal case shows up in the statewide index.

Note: the rule is a useful reminder. A related juvenile record is not just one more public entry on a Callaway County criminal docket.

Callaway County Criminal Setting Labels

Labels on a Callaway criminal setting can confuse. They make more sense next to the published 13th Circuit schedules. The January 2025 associate schedule lists Bond Hearings, Criminal, Contested Criminal/Traffic, Criminal Non-Support, and municipal blocks. The March 2025 circuit schedule adds Criminal, Contested Criminal, DOC Video/Criminal, and contested matters set by consent. A label names a calendar block. That is all it does. It tells you nothing about the result of any case placed there.

Arraignment
A proceeding that addresses the charge and plea process.
Bond hearing
A setting concerning release conditions, not a final decision on guilt.
Contested criminal
A block for a disputed criminal matter, which can include trial-related activity or a contested hearing.
DOC Video
A video appearance block for a person in custody.
Special setting
A matter the judge placed outside a routine recurring schedule.

Note: When a recurring schedule and a case-specific notice seem to disagree, the current case number and the newest court entry control. The 13th Circuit local rules lay out how the circuit and its divisions operate. A calendar label fits somewhere in that structure. For the case itself, Case.net is the check.

Criminal Case Stages on the Docket

A Callaway County criminal docket usually tells its story in order. First comes the charging paper, whether a complaint, information, indictment, or citation. Then a summons, warrant, or service entry shows the court reached the person. Arraignment and plea entries follow. Bond settings then put the case on a calendar. From there the record may pick up a preliminary hearing, pretrial filings, motions, or a contested setting. Most cases end in a plea or trial. The closing entries might record a dismissal, a nolle prosequi, a verdict, judgment, sentence, probation, a treatment-court referral, an appeal, or a mandate. Not every case hits every step.

Docket flow: Filing → Arraignment → Pretrial → Plea or Trial → Disposition → Sentencing

Some entries need a careful read. A nolle prosequi means the prosecutor has formally chosen to drop the charge. That choice is not an acquittal. Bond forfeiture deals only with the bond; it decides nothing about guilt. A notice of appeal leaves the trial docket intact. It simply opens a separate review track. It usually heads to the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District when that court has jurisdiction.

Callaway County Criminal Docket Trial Context

A jury trial sits near the end of a criminal docket, not at the start of it. Callaway County's numbers for 2024 come from the 13th Circuit jury report. It lists four Callaway jury panels that year. One panel was dismissed before verdict. Three trials actually went forward. All but one criminal jury trial ended in a verdict, with 33 percent of verdicts coming back guilty. Those are jury-activity figures alone. They do not count total criminal filings, track dispositions, or measure every criminal case on the Callaway County docket.

The 2024 13th Circuit jury report holds those figures. It also helps you place a trial entry in the wider sequence of a Callaway County criminal docket.

Callaway County Criminal Docket Courts

Callaway County sits in the Missouri Circuit Court's 13th Judicial Circuit. It shares the circuit with Boone County. The circuit divisions hear circuit-level criminal and trial matters. Callaway's associate divisions take associate criminal work, bond and preliminary matters, municipal criminal cases, traffic, and the rest of the associate schedule. One Circuit Clerk serves as the local keeper of court records across all of those routes. No separate justice-of-the-peace docket operates in the county today.

Callaway's 2023 annual report names four municipal divisions: Auxvasse, Fulton, Holts Summit, and New Bloomfield. A municipal case can be renumbered when it transfers to an associate or circuit division. So check the actual case number and division rather than assuming a city label settles the search.

Callaway County Drug Court Docket Access

Drug Court came to Callaway County in 2001. That date comes from 13th Circuit treatment-court materials. The 2023 report counts 41 referrals, 18 admissions, 7 pending participants, 15 graduates, 5 terminations, and 7 administrative transfers. Those totals describe how the court runs its program. They say nothing about any one participant's case. On the associate schedule you will see Drug Court staffing and Drug Court blocks listed, alongside Mental Health, Family Drug Court, Veterans Court, and Co-Occurring Court entries in other schedule materials.

A referral may still appear on the underlying case. Rule 4.24 keeps drug-court records, treatment reports, assessments, and similar material confidential. Search the underlying Case.net number for public referral, plea, disposition, or completion entries. Then ask the Circuit Clerk whether a given docket item is public. Do that before you rely on it. The Callaway Drug Court annual report supplies the program history and operating figures. It gives useful context without exposing protected treatment material to an ordinary docket search.

Access Rules for Criminal Dockets

A public criminal index is not the same as an open case file. Missouri Court Operating Rule 4 shields several categories. Juvenile, adoption, mental-health, psychiatric, presentence, drug-court, grand-jury, search-warrant, sealed, and expunged material fall under it in the circumstances the rule describes. A name search can also leave out a victim, a witness, a child, or a protected party. So can a case whose security level has shifted. So a missing result never proves that no court record exists.

Key Missouri access rules:

Court Operating Rule 4 defines the court record, requires public-access equipment, and controls confidential and sealed record handling.

RSMo §610.120 limits public access to closed criminal records and requires separate handling.

RSMo §211.321 generally keeps juvenile records confidential except for stated statutory exceptions or court-authorized access.

If a public name search fails, try the case number instead. For documents not posted online, other options exist. The courthouse terminal, the Circuit Clerk counter, the telephone line, the current copy-request form, or a written request all serve as alternatives. Ask about status first. Find out whether the record is public, confidential, sealed, or terminal-only. Then send payment. The Missouri closed-criminal-record statute sets out how closed criminal records get separate treatment.

That statute is why a public index cannot be read as a full account of every historical criminal matter in Callaway County. Closed records simply stay out of view.

Callaway County Criminal Docket Gaps

A public criminal result may have no PDF link. In that case, write down the case number, the entry date, and the exact entry description. Then check whether the entry is linked anywhere. Also check whether the case carries an ECASE marker. Older or security-limited public documents may require a courthouse terminal. They may not be available remotely. The Circuit Clerk's counter sits at the Justice Center, 5 East 2nd Street in Fulton. Call 573-642-0780 for a public docket, case status, or a copy path.

Plan a courthouse visit with care. The local rules bar public mobile-phone entry at the Justice Center. Exceptions exist only for listed authorized people. Terminal hours are not published, so call before you travel. Bring the case number. Ask whether the record is at the terminal or needs a current copy request. The 13th Circuit juvenile annual report notes the move. The Circuit Clerk and Juvenile Office both entered the Justice Center in May 2023. That shared address helps you route a court-record question to the right local office.
